Our Story

Mahatma Phule Education Trust was established in 1983 by Shree Baburao Mane, with a passion for education, keeping in mind the area of Dharavi which bares the fame of being the largest slum in Asia. Providing quality education to the underprivileged and backward class is a herculean task in this area. In 1996 Shree Baburao Mane started his first secondary school named Chhatrapati Shivaji Vidyalaya in four medium that are Marathi, Hindi, Urdu and English. After realizing that pre-primary & primary education are also a must in the ongoing process of education to be achieved, he then started Raje Shivaji Vidyalaya, pre- primary & Primary School in Marathi, Hindi, Urdu, English in 1997.

Mahatma Phule Education Trust’s main aim is to create respectable and benchmark educational institution in Dharavi. It strives to see that all the people of Dharavi are educated irrespective of class, community, caste, creed or colour by establishing, maintaining and administering educational institutions such as Pre-primary, Primary, Secondary, Higher Secondary and College to encourage Sports, Music, Dance & other fine arts. MPET has always given priority to satisfying the educational needs of the poor and deserving students but it has adapted itself to the changing times. On one hand the institution is fulfilling its social obligation to provide free education to poor and needy and on the other hand it is spending lakhs on salaries of teachers, hostel facility & infrastructure with the latest and the best facilities.

MPET is located at Building no 13/31, P.M.G.P Colony, Opp. Maharashtra Nature Park, Dharavi, Mumbai-400017.
